Working on composing and decomposing with your students? This craftivity helps students compose the number 10. The more practice, the better...composing and decomposing is hard for kids!
In this product, I have included the instructions on how to make a snowman with templates and printables. You can have your students color, cut, and glue the printables, or they can use "tear art" to finish their snowman.
Then, using the snowman, students will count out ten button manipulatives and arrange them into groups to make ten. There are 11 ways to make 10, so students will need to find all arrangements. There are 2 different student recording sheets for students to document their work: one using numbers to fill in the blanks, and one using equations.
This can be used as a whole group lesson, in small groups, or even in a math station.
