Are you working on composing and decomposing numbers with your students?
Would you like an 'egg'-citing way for students to really understand the concept?
'Hop' on over and check out this pack!
My students were having a really hard time grasping this concept. My sons were playing with plastic eggs and a 'light bulb' turned on! Have my students actually put together (compose) and break apart (decompose) eggs! I wanted the center to be self-sufficient, so I constructed some paper eggs and baskets- and this is how this center and activity were 'born!'
This Pack Includes:
*Directions for play/use & picture page
*4 Baskets; labeled 2-5
*18 eggs for sorting by sum
*18 number sentences for composing numbers
*18 number sentences for decomposing numbers
*B&W Printable for assessment of mastery, review,
morning work, homework, center extension activity, etc.!
(provides a 'challenge' with '8' to see if students really mastered the concept)
*Supports and Aligns with Common Core Standards!
*Great center activity- can be used and modified in many ways!
*Can be made ‘self-correcting’ by putting the number sentence/sum on the back of the egg cards- students sort the eggs and then flip over to see if they are all in the right basket!
My photo page also shows how I used real plastic eggs to use first with my students and then had them use this center for independent practice and review! The b&w printable was my center extension activity to assess for mastery!
I have a 'non-holiday' version for numbers 2-10 in the works, so please consider becoming a follower to receive notification by email of when new products and freebies are posted!
This center is quick to set up and is sure to be 'egg'-citing, meaningful and fun!
*For PreK- have students count the dots on the eggs and match to the basket with that number!*
