Earth & Moon Matching Game
Decomposing numbers 11-20
Work with numbers 11-19 to gain foundations for place value.
CCSS.Math.Content.K.NBT.A.1 Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones
How to play:
Print, Laminate, and cut out moons
Give a child a game board, place all of the moons into a hat, bag, cup or container of your choice.
Have the student pick a moon out of the container and place it on the correct earth. If they pick a blank earth or moon they have to put all of their pieces back into the container and start over .
Game 2: Matching Game: Cut out ALL of the pieces and have the children play a matching game, when they find a pair they keep it. If they pick the blank earth or moon they have to give all of their matches to another player.
We use this for small group, and centers
Make multiple copies and play a group games with it.
We have include a game board with the numbers in order and one with them mixed up to differentiate the game.
Send home as game homework.
Our RtI kids really need this kind of simple fun game activity to understand the concept.
