This allows students to create numbers 1-19 with manipulatives, or pictures (whichever way you would like). Then, it provides for them to utilize equations with tens and ones after they have created them with you on the work mat. It is great for processing or scaffolding in Kindergarten, First or Second grade intervention. It is a great way for them to see the visual aspects of adding tens and ones. It is also a great way to have them group the numbers in different ways. I had the example with all stars, but you could use different manipulatives to have them compose the numbers different ways with a partner.
