Questions have been designed to lead students to understand why we use a specific formula when we calculate the surface area of compound shapes.
The task cards include calculating area of compound shapes that consists of rectangles, squares, triangles, trapezoids and circles.
The product includes three different types of recording sheets and an answer key. I suggest your students work in groups of 4 or in pairs to guide and support each other when answering questions. I sometimes use these cards as an assessment tool to check students’ understanding. I also included challenging questions that supports higher order thinking skills. This will help to differentiate students’ learning and accommodate your faster learners.
These cards are great for math centers, independent practice, "SCOOT" and other cooperative learning models.
