Product Description
This full lesson covers Earth’s layers, elements in the atmosphere and oceans, organic and inorganic compounds, and the chemical composition of the Earth and living things.

This lesson will help your students prepare for standardized tests by mastering the key concepts surrounding the composition of the earth and living things. Full teacher keys are included. I use this lesson as a key tool to help my students prepare for the STAAR test. The lesson specifically covers TEKS 6.5B and 7.6A. Although created to align with Texas State standards, these classroom activities will be useful in any classroom that covers Earth’s layers, elements in the atmosphere and oceans, organic and inorganic compounds, and the chemical composition of the Earth and living things.

✓ A three page close reading passage with graphics and a QR code that guide students to an engaging video clip that supports the lesson

✓ A check for understanding quiz with key

✓ Two differentiated versions of a cut and paste interactive notebook entry covering key vocabulary in the lesson

✓ Two differentiated versions of an atoms and elements riddle worksheet covering key topics of the lesson

✓ A crossword puzzle using key vocabulary and concepts from the lesson.

Approximately two to three class period in length (as a point of reference, I teach a 50-minute class). I generally use all the resources as class work, and use the crossword puzzle for early finishers. I usually complete the activities in two class periods. Created by Mister Science.

If you’re teaching a unit covering the layers of the earth your students may enjoy my very popular Earth’s layers lesson for interactive notebooks. The foldable included in this lesson is always a big hit with my students, and makes a great addition to your interactive notebooks or science journals.CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAIL
