Product Description

The lesson is meant to inform students on how food waste can be better utilized to grow produce. The intention of introducing students to composting is to broaden their understanding of the connection between the food they eat and the environment. Highlighting compost as an entity that impacts the beginning and end of the food cycle, helps illustrate this point. After being introduced to the concept of composting, students will engage in an activity where they identify compostable and non-compostable forms of waste, students will then make a collage with compostable materials. After the students finish their collages and go outside to find compostable items such as flowers, grass or leaves, the lesson ends with the facilitator reflecting with the students and telling a compost themed story.
