As students become more proficient writers, it is essential for them to be able to self-correct their work. This is sometimes a difficult task for those who are still mastering proper punctuation, capitalization and spelling. This lesson focuses on being able to spot when something is amiss and how to use tools to fix the problems.
Specifically, this lesson helps students combine sentences using the proper conjunctions to make more complex and interesting sentences. The first five slides of the PowerPoint are the lesson plans, and the remaining slides are for use with students, including a fun game! The lesson is aligned to 3rd grade CCSS, but is easily adaptable for other grade levels.
