This explains the structure of the lesson. All the materials are provided for you to follow these procedures. (An answer key is included.)
1. Discover the Craft
You will present three examples of the grammar or language rule/skill. Ask the students to read over the examples and tell you what they notice. Use the prompts/probes to guide students to the rule/skill.
2. Teaching Point
Write down the rule/skill together and have students copy it below the three examples on their Discover the Craft sheet. This sheet should be put into their notebook or kept as a collection in their folder as notes.
Teach students why, when or how you would use this rule.
3. Active Engagement
Students will then do a grammar hunt sheet for the skill/rule where they will practice the rule/skill. End the hunt with a share between partners and reveal the answers or examples to the class.
