There are 20 compound word puzzles and a recording sheet. Students match up the 2 words that make the compound word to the picture of the word. Then they record the two little words and the new compound word that it makes.
One worksheet gives a compound word and students need to separate it into the 2 words that make up that word.
The other worksheet has students circle all of the compound words. There are words on the sheet that are not compound words!
There is a black and white version of the puzzles for easy printing.
1. Print enough puzzles so each students gets a piece. Students walk around and try to find their group. Then they can share with the class.
2. Print, laminate, and cut. Put pieces in a bag and have the students work in groups to put the puzzles together. You can print 10 puzzles for each group and only give the first side of the recording sheet if you want.
3. Small group word work. Have the students work together in group to put the puzzles together.
4. Center - students can work alone or together to put the puzzles together and record their answers.
