The 30 Compound Words BINGO cards let students practice reading words with compound words as you play a game as a group. They are provided twice, once with only the compound words (pages 9-38), and again with compound word and a b/w picture (pages 39 to end).
Each card has sixteen words, from the following list of 22 words: rainbow, raincoat, snowman, snowball, toothbrush, toothpaste, fireman, cupcake, keyboard, clipboard, sunflower, sunglasses, flowerpot, pancake, notebook, paintbrush, swimsuit, butterfly, football, horseshoe, eggplant, bookbag.
Page 4 and 5 include the compound words and images and a blank BINGO board if you would like the students cut and paste the words and make their own boards.
Page 6-8 has the BINGO calling cards, both with colorful images as well as in word format. Each calling card has two images (or words) that combine to form a compound word.
Print the set of calling cards out, and cut out each set. Mix them up. Play BINGO by randomly selecting one of the calling cards. Show or call out the two separate words. Students should find the compound word on their own BINGO card.
The first in the group to get four words in a row, in any direction, wins the game.
Play in small groups or as a whole class!
