Here's another way to get your students up and moving while they learn! This set of 24 compound word cards is a unique way to practice this decoding skill! This is a great literacy connection if you use a Gingerbread Man theme in December!

What makes this set unique?

On each card, your students will see three words, and must determine the correct words and sequence to create a Christmas / winter compound word, like evergreen, peppermint, snowball, or nutcracker. Download the preview to see the complete list of compound words used. Your students will grow in their ability to work with compound words and are likely to build some new seasonal vocabulary, too!

How can you use this set?

* Play Scoot! Place the cards in sequence around your classroom. Each student positions themselves at one card and solves it. On your call of "Scoot!", students all move to the next numbered card, until they've completed all of the cards. If you have more than 24 students, six fun "Take a Break" cards are also included in this set.

All of the cards include colorful gingerbread graphics, but are also given in an ink-saving black and white alternative.

* Create a Read the Room literacy rotation center by posting the cards in random order, either all around the classroom or out of sequence in one location, like on the side of a bookcase or file cabinet. It's basically the same as Scoot, but searching for the cards is a fun and active twist!

* Use the cards as task cards in a literacy rotation center. Because an answer key is included, students can complete and check their work independently, saving you time!

* Play Gingerbread Four-in-a-Row, a one-page board game to play using the same 24 cards.
