Compound words are made up of two other words joined together, each of which is a proper word, thus making a new word. In this activity, pupils have to match the two words together, from a set of ten words, to make the new compound word.
There are four different sets of ten words to complete in this pack. I suggest laminating the sheets to make them re-usable. There are five sheets in the pack for each set of ten words and I've included two different ways of playing the matching game: Firstly, place Velcro in the blank spaces on the first two pages of each set; cut up the words on the third page and place Velcro on the rear of these words; then the pupils have to match the words onto the first two sheets.
Alternatively, laminate and cut up the words on the fourth and fifth pages of each set and just get pupils to do the matching activity on their desks or on the floor.
