This activity is meant as additional practice/reinforcement after a lesson on calculating compounding and continuous interest, typically seen in the Algebra 1 curriculum. It is expected that, before completing this activity, students are familiar with the formulas A=Pe^(rt) for continuously compounding interest and A = P(1+r/n)^(nt) for compounding interest, and that they have fluency with the terms each of the variables describes.
To construct practice problems, students draw a playing card and roll a 6-sided die. The student instructions sheet (visible in the preview file) details how this translates to a problem. An example is included on the student instruction sheet and worksheet. Students will practice calculating both compound and continuous interest.
Also included is a homework assignment/problem set to assess student mastery of both formulas.
