Use this worksheet to reinforce the main ideas about compounds and mixtures. The worksheet is two pages long. It has a true/false section where students correct false statements, a drawing section where students use shapes to represent elements and compounds in mixtures, and a short response section where students answer in sentences.
The worksheet emphasizes the following points:
--Compounds have set ratios and mixtures do not.
--Mixtures can be separated physically; compounds can only be separated chemically.
--Compounds and mixtures are both made of elements.
--Elements do not keep their individual characteristics when combined to make compounds.
The worksheet can be assigned in class or as homework. Students can complete the whole worksheet or complete one side of their choice. A complete answer key is included.
