Hello! Thank you for looking at Comprehending Concepts – Christmas Theme! This lesson was designed to develop an understanding of temporal (before/after), conditional (if… then) and inclusion/exclusion linguistic terms.
As many of you already know, ALL of my lessons are created based on the current needs of my students. Comprehension of linguistic concepts, specifically the aforementioned ones, is a goal that many of my students have and require practice with. What better way to develop the skills, but around a Christmas theme?
For this lesson, students will be provided with Christmas-themed pictures. For each picture, 18 directives addressing the concepts above, are provided. There are ten picture scenes included in the lesson that are filled with opportunities to develop other areas of language as well.
For my use, I work on this for the two weeks leading to Christmas. With the diversity of language goals of my groups, I usually start my lessons with these, so I use these for TWO weeks (10 days) before Christmas.
**** Printing suggestions and modifications are additionally noted, as many of you know, I print once in color and photocopy as needed.
I additionally made a parent note for the lesson to be copied and provided after the completion of the lesson and a check-off list that contains all of the scenes that the students can check once completed.
