This reading activity includes a story about Halloween. Johnny’s Halloween is about a boy who is very excited about Halloween. He has a family tradition of decorating his house. Then he carves two pumpkins with his mom. Finally he goes trick or treating with his mom. While trick or treating, he does not listen to his mom, and as a result he loses his chance to go trick or treating more with his mom and then with his dad. In this story, students will see how you cannot always do what you want. If you do not listen, then you will be consequences. After reading the story, students will be asked to complete a sequencing activity in which they need to number the events in order. In the second activity they are asked to write an effect for the cause given. The final activity includes comprehension questions with multiple-choice answers, and they have to circle the best answer.
