This product is an assessment that will help you "drill down" to find out what your students need in regards to comprehension. This works best in an intervention/small group setting, but can be adapted to a whole class assessment.
ARE YOU A SUBSCRIBER TO READING A-Z.COM? The story that is paired with these questions is from their website.
I created questions that were broken down into literal and inferential comprehension. Various skills are tested in each of these areas.
Literal: 5 Ws, story parts
Inferential: Character traits, word meanings in context, character feelings, theme, drawing conclusions, point of view, compare/contrast, finding evidence, and synthesizing.
There is a score sheet that includes the skill each question is testing, and how many points are awarded for each question. Each area is broken down.
Administer this assessment at a level that is one level harder than their independent level (they are already independent for comprehension at this level).
