This is a sample of one book from my emergent readers which are designed to give beginning readers confidence and also help them to develop comprehension skills from the beginning. Each reader is 6 pages long when cut in half and they have at least two repeating sight words in each reader. These sight words are then reinforced on the comprehension activity page while the last section is a text dependent activity for the students to engage in. These text dependent activities are very age appropriate for emergent readers. There is a sentence fluency page to go along with each reader and a sight word page that accumulates the sight words learned from each previous book. These are great little readers for shared reading or guided reading. They could be used at home to reread and complete the comprehension page and teach how to find answers in the text. In the full packet there are extra fluency sentences and word lists at the end of the packet to cover the first 100 fry words and many of the first 100 Dolch words.
In the complete packet, the following sight words are included in the first set of readers:
see, the, can, have, I, a, like, to, little, and, here, has, he, in it, go, likes, play, we, ate, all, one, two, three, four, five, up, down, jump, over, this, my, he, she, with, color words--red, blue, black, brown, green, yellow, and purple.
