Use this packet for comprehension, vocabulary, and higher level thinking practice. It works well for independent work as well as to guide discussions. Students will have the chance to answer three questions in each chapter, based on what they read. Students will practice their writing skills and be using text evidence to support their answers, while also practicing the following reading skills:
cause and effect
In addition to chapter by chapter questions, students are also able to complete mid-book and end of book projects. For the mid-book project, students practice sequencing important events through a comic strip. This project takes them to deeper levels of thinking and creativity. The end of the book project allows students to choose between two different real life writing projects with real-world audiences.
