The DRA (developmental reading assessment) is a great tool to determine a student’s reading level and instructional needs. Although this is a great tool, it takes an extensive amount of time to properly assess each student. The assessment itself should only be given 2-3 times per year (to older grades).
I loved the information the DRA gave me, but I wanted more data in between the 2-3 assessments I gave my students. I desired some way to monitor how my students were progressing, after I had identified (with the DRA) their reading deficits…..thus I created these comprehension quick checks!
This bundle of comprehension quick checks includes:
-35 pages of quick checks
-Includes all targeted DRA skills:
-Designed for grades 3-8
-Scoring Rubrics for each quick check
-Directions for use
-Class recording sheet
These quick checks are perfect way to progress monitor your students’ comprehension all year long! They are quick, targeted, simple to grade, easily differentiated based on student’s need and go with ANY text! You can use them in RTI groups, whole class, centers, guided reading groups or even during teacher read aloud!
