This intervention focuses on helping students think about the text structures used in fiction and non-fiction reading and how to use that information to help them remember information they read. I have used this format for a few years with students who I meet 1:1 with. I have had students experience great success and really increase the amount of information they can remember about a story. They have even been able to transfer their improved retelling skills to write summaries and when they have to retell a story on Informal Reading Inventories (IRI). I also love having the time to be able to sit down and provide direct instruction based on exactly what they need.
