Do you have a student who sounds like a good reader, but s/he does not seem to understand what s/he reads?
Retelling may be a good strategy that will give you insight into his or her thinking process.
Two RETELLING PROFILES, one for fiction, one for non-fiction, are included. They are useful tools to evaluate individual comprehension.
They can also be used as organizational techniques that can be taught to individuals, small, or large groups of students in class.
By modeling the retelling process using the included Student Retelling Evaluation Form, teachers can instruct students in an effective retelling and comprehension strategy.
