Improve reading comprehension skills!
Each of the 56 short, high-interest stories in this unit includes six follow-up questions, which provide hands-on practice with the following skills: getting the facts, locating answers, following directions, and vocabulary
After reading the story, questions will direct students to locate answers in the text. Students will then circle, underline, cross out, or put an X through the answers in the story.
Following that activity is an activity using context clues. After students have inserted words to complete and construct meaning from the text, they are asked to write a title for the story. The title could be a complete sentence telling what the story is about, or a title that uses as few words as possible. Either way, the title they choose will show their level of understanding of the main idea. The page can also be used as a diagnostic reading assessment.
A complete list of reading levels and word counts for each story is included so that you can differentiate lessons depending on your students' level.
