Are you looking for structure for your computer science/technology program? Do you need help prioritizing or selecting which of the many media literacy skills are most critical to ensuring your students’ success in the digital world? Are you unsure when students should start working on which skills? Perhaps you are on a tight budget and can’t afford ready-made curriculum packages (that come with student textbooks or reproducible materials). Even if you have the funds, in the world of IT, where continual change is the only constant, too many resources have a shelf life of about a year. Sometimes the resources you need for your particular programs (or versions of them) just aren’t available. This resource was created with all of these challenges and needs in mind.
This “Do-It-Yourself” curriculum package comes with no materials (except the curriculum, which is really everything you need to get started, well that and your creative spirit). It is written in generic language so it can be used in multiple platforms and applications. You need your choice of a word processing program and a spreadsheet program, and you can use this curriculum with your choice of operating system and computer, as well.
YOU design the materials, but there is plenty of guidance in this package to help you along the way (and you can always e-mail me if you get stuck)!
And the best news is that this isn’t a curriculum that has to be thrown out the window with every new version of the OS or the word processing program. With a few tweaks to the materials you make each year, this should last you for years to come.
