This two-page activity guides students to practice writing conditional statements, converses, and biconditionals about animals and triangles. They determine the truth values of statements and provide counterexamples.
On the first page, they are given diagrams with one piece of information (either a conditional statement, its converse, or a biconditional statement) filled in. They must write the other statements, determine the truth value of all three, and choose a counterexample from a word bank for any false statements.
On the second page, students analyze patterns on the previous page to see what situations result in a true biconditional statement. Then they review sample sets of information and write a conjecture using a set of given words. They must tell whether their conjecture is true or false and explain why in a complete sentence.
