This easy-prep, ink-friendly, EDITABLE product is designed to help build classroom community as well as vocabulary. A spin on "Brag Tags", this product is designed to involve the students in rewarding the positive behaviors you want to see in your students.
One of the biggest challenges of immersion is providing meaningful communicative opportunities for our students and giving them the vocabulary to do so. Meaningful compliments are hard in a second language and this product will give your students the tools to lift each other up! Not only does this put a focus on positive behaviors you want to see in class, but the students will love spying on each other!
How to use:
In my classroom, we have a “Class Friend”. This person’s job is to hand out the “confetti”. Monday, I give one sheet of 12 rewards to my class friend. I give out a different color of paper each week, or, instead of 1 sheet of 12, I give 3 different colored strips of 4 (so that it’s more like Confetti).
*You may decide that 12 awards per week is too much. In this case, alternate between which awards you give each week. A strip of 4 awards per week is great for younger students. You might also choose to give blank confetti strips to multiple students instead of just one.
The goal is to reach as many students as possible, and so instead of giving these out one by one, have students write the name of their peers throughout the week. They must give awards/confetti to 12 (or 4) different students! If doing 12 rewards, it works out that they have to award 3 students per day (Monday-Thursday). Then, either on Friday or the following Monday either you or they cut out the cards and distribute them!
Students receiving “confetti” can glue them onto their personal confetti page (I like to put this in their homework folder). When students get 12 confettis, I give them an additional prize.
