Ready to help students get to know their Confirmation saints better and develop deeper relationships with their role models (as well as improving writing skills to boot)?
Use one or both of these essay-writing activities to prepare for Confirmation (or just enhance a saint unit). Originally made for use in an English class, catechists can also use them in religion classes with teens and tweens.
In addition to showing student learning about the saints over time, these two essays can also show writing growth during the year!
This 13-page download includes:
1. Teacher's Guide
2. Directions for essay assignment #1, writing about the student's initial reasons for choosing the saint.
3. Directions for essay assignment #2, affirming why the saint is the right one for them based on research and learning done since essay #1.
4. CCSS-aligned rubrics for both essays
5. Two sample essays
6. A prewriting activity
