The Conflict Corner is a strategy to teach students how to work on their conflict resolution skills. I originally learned of this strategy through the #physed community. Rock star Physical Education teachers like @thepespecialist (Ben Landers) @phys_educator (Joey Feith) and @physeddepot (Mike Ginicola) led the way. Since most of this resource is borrowed from them, I'll always have it here for free!
In addition to helping to resolve conflicts, the conflict corner also helps students learn about the size of their reaction compared to the size of the problem. Any time students have a problem with someone – maybe they saw them cheating, maybe they saw them break a rule or do a procedure incorrectly, or they want to tattle on them etc. – before they come and tell staff about it they must first ask that person to go to the conflict corner. If a person asks you to go to the conflict corner you are required to go – working out your problems together is part of being a respectful communicator.
