This step-by-step mediation process provides students with a consistent and fair framework to help them resolve conflicts. It is helpful for students to already be familiar with I-messages, coping skills, and assertive communication to fully benefit from the problem-solving process. The provided resources are intended for small group counseling but can be easily used by classroom teachers to set up a “Peace Point” in their classroom to help students with conflict resolution.
If they are not, they can be taught these skills simultaneously while applying the process, but this will require more guidance.
