Character education is vital to the success of our students. Employers report that the qualities for which they are looking when hiring include the “soft skills” that are character education.
This is a 26 slide PowerPoint presentation lesson that covers the topic of PHYSICAL AGGRESSION, PERSONAL SPACE, ANGER MANAGEMENT. I have included links to 7 Different links to videos to support the information you are presenting. There are multiple videos that you can mix or match or even skip, if you want. That is the beauty of being able to personalize this lesson for yourself. It is easily adapted to teach levels between kindergarten to fifth grade.
Concepts covered include:
• Personal space
• Asking permission to touch
• Uses for hands other than hitting
• Conflict resolution techniques
o Talking to someone
o Relaxation breathing
o Kelso’s Choices
o Consequences of choices
Also included are a letter to send home to parents about the lesson and two coloring sheets that you can put on the back of the letter for the students to reinforce the concepts being taught. My parents love this communication, and it helps to reinforce concepts utilizing the same vocabulary both at school and at home.
I have found that videos are very effective in helping students to create an emotional link to the abstract concepts that character education involves. Coupled with discussions in which you can assist students to make the connection, it is an easy and effective way to teach these difficult concepts and assist students to internalize them into their own personalities.
This presentation includes 26 slides which have transitions, clip art, and animations to help to hold your students' interest. I have embedded background music that I have found helpful to hold student interest. It is easily personalized and customized and includes a master slide that you can copy and paste into the location where additional information is desired.
I have included notes to give you ideas for discussion points with students.
You may want to rearrange the slides to make this presentation fit your needs. I have them arranged the way that makes sense for my students, but that may not be the best way for you.
Web sites are NOT embedded, but are links. I do not own them or control them, so if there is a problem with a broken link or something else, please let me know so that I can repair, replace, or fix the presentation for you. Anytime you have technology incorporated, you risk having related issues.
I appreciate communication so that I can provide the best possible service for you. In the event that a link does not work, please contact me via the “TpT QUESTIONS” page, and I will do my best to remedy the situation for you!!
**NOTE*** links do not work in editing mode in Powerpoint. They are only active in presentation mode. Please be aware of this.
