Conflict Resolution Lesson "A Turkey for Thanksgiving" w 5 videos & 7 role plays
This is a PowerPoint presentation for a conflict resolution lesson using the book / video "A Turkey for Thanksgiving". The Amazon description: "Mr. and Mrs. Moose invite all their animal friends for Thanksgiving dinner and the only one missing is Turkey. When they set out to find him, Turkey is quaking with fear because he doesn't realize that his hosts want him at their table, not on it."
This is a great holiday lesson to teach the students the importance and how to resolve conflicts. In my experience, it might not be a bad thing for the adults to participate in, too. LOL...
This presentation has 28 slides and links to 5 videos about conflict resolution. Videos range in length from 1 minute to 13 minutes.
Pair this with the "I Message" half-sheet hand-outs in my store and the "I Message" poster, and you will have your students solving conflicts on their own.
At the end of the presentation, there are 7 role play situations that the students can use to demonstrate their understanding of and practice conflict resolution behaviors.
I would schedule a minimum of 45 minutes for this lesson and activity.
The PowerPoint is customizable and has a master slide that can be copied to make your own slides to personalize the lesson for your students and teaching style. The presentation includes both animations and transitions to hold your students' interest. Make your lesson come alive for your students and help them to connect to the concept in a fun way that will help them to remember the important lessons you need for them to remember.
