The goal of this activity is to help students understand when and how to use different conflict strategies. The more students see and hear about different strategies, the more likely they are to use them. The following verbal and nonverbal strategies are used in this activity:
Make a Deal
Talk It Out
Wait and Cool Off
Play a Different Game/Activity
This download includes a smartboard file and four different printable cartoon comic activities. The smartboard file should be used to introduce and review the different verbal and nonverbal strategies. It also includes role play activities to introduce the comic cartoon conflicts. In order for your smarboard file to look the same, you will need to download the following free fonts from http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/: Sketch Block & Miserably Lose. Otherwise, you will have to make adjustments to the file.
The children will create cartoon comics to illustrate how to solve a conflict. Each cartoon comic printable has a conflict situation, which is typical in elementary and middle school. The student must choose a verbal and nonverbal strategy to use to solve the conflict. They must illustrate the conflict from beginning to end.
