This download includes a printable playing board, four player pieces, and 36 cards. If possible, use your school's poster maker to print the board.
The purpose of the game is to help students understand when and how to use different problem solving strategies. The game gives examples of common conflict situations many elementary students face. It also focuses on why we use positive strategies, along with the effects of using appropriate and inappropriate strategies. The following solution strategies are included in the game:
Talk It Out
Choose a Different Game/Activity
Make a Deal
Wait and Cool Off
How to play:
1. Have each player choose a game piece and place it on start.
2. Player 1 will roll the dice and move the number of spaces on the dice. Student will read the card out loud. Each burst on the board lists two different strategies. The student must answer the question or follow the directions related to the two strategies. If the student is unable to give a solid answer, he/she must move back to the original place.
3. If the player lands on the super hero capes, he/she must follow the directions on the board.
4. Repeat. The first player to the end wins.
