Students are divided into nation-based groups and are charged to come up with what their plan would be to deal with post-Napoleon France. The Germanic states (Austria and Prussia) are merged into one "team" for the purposes of keeping the simulation at four groups. After students have their plans set, the groups should convene into an actual "conference," where proposals will be listed and then voted upon. Debriefing should include guiding students towards discovering the idea of maintaining the balance of power between influential European states. It is HIGHLY recommended that the maps of Napoleonic-era Europe be made available for the use of the students during their planning, and ideally it should be projected on a board or wall for students to interact with as standing groups. This version is differentiated, and has scaffolded guidance to student responses.
