You have 16 congruent triangle task cards. Great for Differentiation. Use the distance formula to prove 2 triangles are congruent. You can also use the cards to identify rigid transformations (Rotations, Reflections, and Translations)
Great Alternate Assessment Activity
The cards include ..
- 4 triangle pairs that were translated
- 4 that were rotated
- 4 that were reflected across a line
- 4 triangle pairs that are not congruent (M-P).
I have not added directions to the cards so that you can use them for multiple activities. Several examples are listed on the directions page (also included in preview)

Fun activities to do with the task cards:
Congruent Triangles Detective (my favorite)
In groups of 2-3, students are given one card. Without graphing, students are to use the distance formula to determine whether the corresponding size are congruent thus making the triangles congruent. Once they decide, they must build a case ad present their evidence to their client (the class). At the end of their presentation they will graph the points to show they are correct.
Proof Posters Project (great alternate assessment)
Students graph their points and decide if the triangles are congruent. On their poster they show all the corresponding sides are congruent. To increase the level, have them also show what type of transformation was performed and find the translation vector, line of reflection or angle of rotation. I have included a student response sheet to help students organize their work.
