Stations mazes are great because they get students up and moving around the room. They also encourage students to check their work carefully since an incorrect answer will eventually send them back to a problem they have already solved. Successfully completing the maze requires students to slow down and check their work.
This activity can be completed individually or in pairs. A student answer sheet is included.
Two versions of the maze are included: color and black and white. The differences are shown in the thumbnails.
There are 11 stations. Students will:
• Write equations of parabolas, and circles from written description
• Write equations of hyperbolas and circles from graph
• Identify features of parabolas, ellipses, hyperbolas
• Identify type of conic section from equation
