This game is Tic-Tac-Toe taken to the next level. A large tic-tac-toe grid contains another grid within each of its boxes. To win, the student must not only win within the small grid, but within the large grid as well. The rules are a little confusing at first, but once students get going, this activity can have students conjugating verbs and enjoying it for up to 25 minutes. This board is designed with all regular verbs for conjugation in any Spanish tense.
1)Print the board on a regular 8.5x11 paper
2)Have students form pairs and give a board to each pair
3)Student #1 chooses 1 verb and a subject within that box. (ex Hablar, ella). If the student can correctly conjugate the verb verbally (habla), they earn the square.
4)Student #2 must move to the grid that mirrors the space that student #1 chose. (ella is in top right of small grid, so he/she would have to go to the top right box of the large grid. He/she could then choose to conjugate any form of correr)
5)Students take turns conjugating verbs and moving each other around the board.
6)A win in the small grid, would earn the student that box in the large grid. 3 in a row in the large grid equals a win.
*an incorrect answer allows the student to move to any box.
*if a grid has already been won, the student sent to that box may go anywhere.
