Product Description
Students can see what the five most common coordinating conjunctions are and then use them to connect and combine two sentences into one. I like to read the book, The Little Engine that Could by Walter Retan, and explain to students that the two sentences are like the trains in the story, that one sentence will pull another, and the conjuctions are the "hitches" that pull "hitch" (connect) the two sentences together.

This file includes sentence writing practice for conjunctions: and, but, because, so, and or.
