This conjunctions bundle is everything you need! In English grammar, we study coordinating conjunctions, correlative conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, and conjunctive adverbs. My students need to understand the types so they can apply punctuation and parallelism guidelines.
I made these activities to clarify the differences in these conjunctions. It is scaffolded, and you may not need to use all of the activities. This bundle includes:
☆ A grammar power-point with 15 slides - editable! They cover definitions and lists. Additionally, it has many examples. For instance, one slide shows each coordinating conjunction in its own sentence.
☆ A student note taking packet. This packet follows the power point and has ample room for notes and additional examples.
☆ Multiple practice opportunities - all which include answer keys:
✓ 10 sentences for students to find the coordinating conjunctions.
✓ 5 sentences for students to find the correlative conjunctions.
✓ 5 sentences for students to find the conjunctive adverb.
✓ 5 sentences for students to write a subordinating conjunction (fill in the blank).
✓ 5 sentences for students to find the conjunction and show what it joins.
✓ 10 sentences for students to find the subordinating conjunction.
✓ 20 sentences for students to find the conjunction and label its type.
✓ 10 prompts for students to practice writing conjunctions.
☆ Answer key included for all 70 practice sentences.
I have used these components as an introduction to conjunctions, in the middle of a grammar lesson for clarification, and as a review before a grammar quiz. Sometimes when I need to differentiate grammar lessons, I have students watch and take notes on the Power Point while I conference with other students.
This conjunctions bundle is part of a larger grammar bundle, the Often Confused Grammar Concepts Bundle.
