If teens are to understand Shakespeare’s language, they must get inside of it, and the only way to do so is to perform. This assignment asks students to perform a scene from a Shakespearean play and make it their own—on film. Strengthens higher-level critical thinking skills as they apply what they are learning in a new context. Students will demonstrate an understanding of the play as they plan and annotate set design, costuming, and script analysis, as well as make decisions about how to film and edit the scene for the clearest interpretation and to ensure audience enjoyment. Most students say this is one of their favorite activities of the whole year.
