As I looked at my students who have difficult reading, final e was a stumbling block. Students knew the rule, but needed practice in applying it with a variety of words. I created this PowerPoint show to help readers conquer this skill. I created a presentation with the words with and without the final e so my student would learn to look for the final e in the word. The show shows words a slow speed and then gives children a short action break. It resumes at a faster speed and gives another action break several more times. The timed presentation moves automatically and takes about 6 minutes.
The adorable theme appeals to children and makes the practice fun. The timed presentation can be student lead which allows teachers a few minutes to get set for the next activity while students are actively learning. Since this is a PowerPoint, it is possible to print out the presentation with 4, 6 or 9 slides on a sheet of paper. These cards can be used as flashcards.
Thank you to Ink and Whimsy, Creative Clips, Dancing Crayon Designs and hello fonts whose wonderful talents make this activity appeal to students!
