In this 53 page interactive Powerpoint Presentation, students practice reading words that contain consonant blends such as bl-, br-, st-, tw-, etc.
Students can move at their own pace due to the Powerpoint being controlled by the click of a mouse or space bar. It is not set up on an automated timer, so it allows students to take their time sounding out the words.
On the first click, students see the word written in a clear and large font. They read the word. If they need a clue, a second click gives them a red line under the consonant blend as well as an animation or picture clue on the page. On the third click, they move on to the next word. There are 2-3 slides for each blend.
This is a great resource to use when teaching blends or as a literacy, word work, or reading center activity because students can use this presentation on their own or with a partner. This can also become a whole group activity if you have access to a SMARTboard or projection tool.
