Consonant Digraphs- sh, ch, th, and wh
I love this unit! It is a great way for your children to learn about the consonant digraphs of sh, ch, th, and wh. There are 8 activities in all perfect for guided reading, learning centers, or Daily 5. Activities included are:
1. sh & ch Picture Sort-
Children will look at pictures and sort them according to their sound. Following the completion of the sort they turn cards over and if they completed activity correctly a mystery picture is revealed.
2. Granny Loves the Beach Game Board-
Children roll a dice and move to that spot. They pick up a word card and if they can make a word with the digraph they have landed on they go ahead 1 space. If they land on the Granny card they have to go back a space.
3. Little Old Lady Who Swallowed Digraphs-
Children decide if sh, wh, th, or ch could be added to the word parts to make a word. They place the word cards on the Old Lady's mouth.
4. Silly Sentences-
Children take 1 each of 3 piles and put the digraph tongue twisters together to form silly sentences.
5. Granny Loves the Beach Scene-
Granny has gone to the beach and has many objects. The children have to decide which digraphs can be added to make a real word and put it into the beach scene.
6. Granny's Hidden Words-
b&w worksheet Granny has hidden words around the beach scene children have to find 20 digraph words.
7. Granny's Buckets-
b&w Children add sh, ch, wh, or th to the blanks to make words and then write them into the correct bucket.
