You are at the pool with your best pals and an older kid approaches you and asks you to race him to the ladder. As if that wasn’t challenging enough, there are tons of swim toys and people blocking the path. The player to make it to the ladder first wins the race!
Players must start at the swimmer and make it to the ladder by rolling the dice. On each space they land, the players must collect and read the CH word family card to swim quickly. However, If they land on a challenge space, they must pick a sentence strip to read and find the matching picture. The player to make it to the ladder first wins!
Lay out the pictures for the sentence strips ahead of time so that when a student lands on a challenge space they can read the sentence and find the matching picture among the array.
To make the game more challenging have students identify real vs. alien words on the CH word family cards.
example: CHOP- real, CHAT- real, CHEG- alien.
