Being able to find the constant of proportionality is a new objective in Texas for 7th grade. These notes serve as an introduction to finding the constant of proportionality by taking the students step by step.
This process includes putting information from a word problem into a table, finding the constant rate of change, and then writing an equation where the constant of proportionality represents the constant rate of change.
The notes also show how each letter of the equation, y=kx, is related to the word problem.
There is a page that can be printed on the opposite side of the notes so that they can be folded and glue into a student's interactive math journal.
