Product Description

Do your students know about Constitution Day? On September 17, 1787, the Founding Fathers signed the U.S. Constitution. For the past 225 years, the Constitution has served as the supreme law of the land. The Constitution, along with the Bill of Rights and other amendments, define our government and guarantee our rights. Each year, on September 17, Americans celebrate Constitution Day and Citizenship Day. In addition, September 17-23 is also recognized as Constitution Week. During this time, Americans are asked to reflect on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and what it means to be a U.S. citizen.

This is an informational resource which provides basic information, what it the day stands for and why we should celebrate it. **The US Department of Education is responsible for implementing Constitution Day legislated mandates. Among these is the requirement for educational institutions that receive federal funds to hold an educational program on the United States Constitution on September 17 each year.**

Teachers are saying:

  • "I am excited to use these activities to hopefully liven up my Constitution week lessons! Thank you!"
  • "Wow, a lot of great stuff here! I like that you included an interactive notebook piece too!"

NOTE: Appropriate for 3rd - 6th grades but be sure to take a look at the preview to see if the activities are appropriate for the level of students you teach.
