James Madison comes to life and tells his story and even Dolley has something to add. Events are explained in a very simple way so the younger child is engaged and interested. This power point can be shown in 6 different settings. After watching this power point your class will understand what the Constitution is and why it is considered such a remarkable document and they will understand the events that led up to writing this document and get to know some of the Framers of our Constitution. Your class will even be able to name our first 4 presidents.
One section is on the First Amendment and has a follow up activity. I have included a lesson on the three branches of government using story books and art activities which will generate an interesting bulletin board. There are art activities and center activities all through this package. There is a sequence cut and paste activity to reinforce comprehension skills for the younger child. I have provided many writing activities on narrative writing using a flow map and expository writing using a circle map. Lessons on descriptive words using a bubble map and a lesson on extending sentences are included. The last section on the power point teaches concepts about money. George Washington and Thomas Jefferson are highlighted in this section. One section is on Why Everyone Wore White Wigs during this period of time and an art activity and bulletin board idea is shared using this theme. The flag is explained and there are several activities provided to reproduce the Betsy Ross Flag. Even an easy way to memorize the 13 colonies is given if you have any top children who would like to memorize these colonies and maps are included.
