With a dearth of suitable classroom posters for Civics and Social Studies, it is sometimes a good idea to construct your own. This is what you will find here--a set of mini-posters that gives the order of ratification of the Original Thirteen States. Each mini-poster depicts two states (with one exception) and includes a state flag, state map, state quarter reverse view, date of ratification, and a picture of one of the signers of the Constitution from that state. New Hampshire, as the 9th state, stands by itself. When it ratified the Constitution, it was officially adopted. Two states ratified AFTER our first president under the new Constitution was inaugurated. And, one state, Rhode Island, had no signers because they sent no delegates to the Constitutional Convention in 1787 at Philadelphia.
Whether used as a power point slide show, as a set of mini posters (I recommend lamination), or as I have done (which is affixing 4 each to two separate posters), it is sure to be an excellent visual of this important process in our nation's history.
