Using excerpts from primary source documents, students will get to evaluate different possible clauses to the Constitution that touch upon similar issues. The debates from the Constitutional Convention through today will come alive!
Students will discuss topics like:
-presidential versus parliamentary elections
-balanced budget amendments
-judicial review and the court structure
-informal changes to the Constitution
-the role of parties in the government
-checks and balances, and more!
All of this is done using actual proposed amendments from the Constitutional convention.
This short exercise was created for a 100 level American History course, and was intended to review the composition of the Constitution in less than an hour.
